GIFU

We actually lived in this region of Japan and we absolutely LOVE it!!! We are so excited to share with you some of our most favourite places!

In Gifu over the Summertime, you can get the chance to see local fishermen 'Cormorant Fishing' on the Nagara river. This is a beautiful spectacle lit by firelight where man and bird work together to fish in the ancient ways.

NAGOYA

Home of Toyota and the National Sumo tournament. We will spend a day exploring this fantastic city!

SEKI

TAKAYAMA

Incredible old style city dating back to the Edo Period!

SHIRAKOWAGO

A UNESCO world heritage site, Shirakowago is famous for their traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old. Gassho-zukuri means "constructed like hands in prayer", as the farmhouses' steep thatched roofs resemble the hands of Buddhist monks pressed together in prayer.

Accommodation.

We will finalize accommodation once we have firm numbers for the tour. We will likely be sleeping 'Japanese style' - futons on the floor. Japanese houses do not typically have large roomy bedrooms per person, they utilise floor space and use futons which they then pack away during the day. Despite this, Learning Brave will supply a top level of comfortable and traditional accommodation.

Transportation.

All transportation is included in this tour, including transfers to and from the Haneda Airport - Tokyo International Airport.

After registration, we will advise an optimal time for participants to arrive and depart the airport.

We are very willing to work with parents and and youth to help facilitate travel buddy groups so that whenever possible, teens can fly together and accompany each other. We also offer travel consultation in the form of personalized help to find the best possible flights available for each participant! (We are very good at this as we have been full-time traveling around the world for the past 6 years!)
